Find an accredited VSO who will file your claims free of charge. Once the VBA tells you you have a disability and gives a rating the compensation is covered to the date you filed.
Make sure you are getting health care for every disability you have. You must have medical records to support your claims. File a claim for each disability that occurred during your military service. Include every physical and mental condition you are suffering from that is covered by VSARD. Each condition caused by Military Sexual Trauma can be rated independently, as long as they are separate and distinct from one another. Please note that a single symptom can only be rated once; therefore, if two conditions are diagnosed but cause similar symptoms, only one can be rated. Once the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) recognizes your disability and assigns a rating, the compensation will be retroactive to the date you filed your claim.
